What is Sensory Processing Disorder?
Sensory processing disorder is a condition in which the brain has trouble sending and receiving information that comes through the senses.
Some people with SPD are overly sensitive to things in their environment. Often sounds or light can be painful to the individual. Large crowds or loud events can also be overwhelming.
How to make events sensory friendly
A lot of event holders will do many different things in order to make a sensory friendly and inclusive event. First and foremost, usually the reservation limit is a lot smaller, for people that are easily overwhelmed in large crowds. They may adjust the lighting or sound to a better level that suits everyone. They will have trained staff on duty in order to help and keep things running smoothly.
